The 79th Annual Meeting of The Society of Rheology will be held in
Salt Lake City, Utah
from October 7 to 11, 2007; two short courses will be offered on October 6
and 7. All sessions will be held at the
Hilton Salt Lake City Center
in downtown Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City, Utah
| Salt Lake City, the site of the 2002 Winter
Olympics, is located in a mountain valley (elevation 4400
ft) approximately 40 minutes from world class ski resorts:
Snowbird, Alta, and Park City. The meeting hotel is within
walking distance of over 90 restaurants and brew pubs, three
shopping malls, the Delta Center, Salt Palace, Temple
Square, and City Creek park for hiking and biking. A free
TRAX light-rail system is also available in the downtown
area; one of the TRAX lines connects to the University of
Utah, which is 3 miles east of the meeting hotel. |

Air Transportation
|
|
Salt Lake International Airport is a Delta hub located 8 miles west of
the meeting hotel on I-80. Other airlines servicing Salt Lake City
include Southwest, United, Northwest, Continental, Jetblue, and
American. From the airport, one possible ground transportation choice is
Valley Shuttle (www.valleyshuttleservice.com,
phone 801-566-8500, cost $10 one way), which only services the
conference hotel. Alternatively, one can choose the Express Shuttle (xpressshuttleutah.com,
phone 1-800-397-0773, cost $10 one way), which services all of the
downtown hotels. The Valley Shuttle bus runs continuously, every 20
minutes, between 6 am and 11 pm; please call to make reservations if you
plan to arrive outside of this time range.

Driving Directions from the Airport
- From the airport, take Interstate 80 East for 4.0 miles.
- Take Temple Square Exit off I-80 onto 600 South in downtown
Salt Lake City.
- Travel 1.6 miles east on 600 South, make a left and go north
on West Temple.
- Travel 0.5 miles on West Temple, Hilton Salt Lake City
Center will be on the right (255 South West Temple, phone
801-328-2000).

Parking
|
| |
Covered underground overnight parking is available
at the meeting hotel for hotel guests at a cost of $8 per day.
Meeting attendees who are not hotel guests can also park during the
day in the same location by obtaining a parking validation, subject
to availability, for $2 per day.

Registration
|
|
Conference registration includes access to all technical sessions
and the vendor display, program and abstract booklets, and all
receptions and coffee breaks. The registration fee does not include
the Bingham Award Banquet; see details on the meeting registration
page. On-site
registration will be held on Sunday, October 7, 4:30 pm
to 7:30 pm
in the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. Registration will continue each day,
Monday through Wednesday, 8 am to 4 pm.

Welcoming Reception
|
|
The Welcoming Reception will be held from 6:00 pm to
8:00 pm on Sunday, October 7 in the Alpine Ballroom
of the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. The Welcoming Reception is

Society Business Meeting
|
|
All attendees are encouraged to attend the annual business meeting
of The Society of Rheology on Tuesday, October 9 at 5:30 pm.
The business meeting will be held in the Canyon A at the
Hilton Salt Lake City Center.

Bingham Award Reception and Banquet
|
|
The Bingham Award Reception will start at
7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 9 in Grand Ballroom
C at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. This will be
followed by the Bingham Award Banquet at 8:00 pm.
There is no charge for entry to the reception and tickets for the
Banquet can be purchased with the meeting registration (see meeting
registration page for details). The Bingham Award Reception is
sponsored by

Poster Session
|
|
The poster session and reception will be held from 6:00 pm
to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 10 in Grand
Ballroom C at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center. The
reception at the Poster Session is sponsored by
Anton-Paar USA.

Exhibits
|
|
Vendors will demonstrate their products from 8:00 am to 5:00
pm, Monday through Wednesday, in the plenary session
meeting room (the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton Salt Lake City
Center). Coffee breaks will also be held in the exhibit area, which has
secure lockdown in the evenings (see exhibitor information link for
details). Vendors should contact Local Arrangements Committee Chair (Jules
(Jaye) Magda, University of Utah, 801-581-7536) directly about exhibit space.
